Designed for struggling first and second-grade students, El Sistema de la Intervención de Lectura (SIL) is a 9-week intervention program that focuses on accelerating progress in reading fluency, comprehension, and writing.
This comprehensive teacher guide includes a complete lesson plan, a running record, and two reproducible activities for each Hopscotch leveled reader. The lessons incorporate the use of alphabet picture cards, high frequency word cards, word family cards, student writing notebooks, and take-home books, all of which are included in the complete SIL kit.
Additional support materials featured in the guide include a Concepts About Print checklist for teachers to document student progress, a parent letter with literacy tips to encourage involvement at home, and a Scope & Sequence to aid instruction. Incorporate the Literacy Intervention System into your classroom to help your students become successful readers and writers.

We first created the Hopscotch books because of our love for the children and we wanted to represent their lives in the books. We wanted our multicultural books to capture the interests of all children.
We then created the SIL/LIS so that teachers would have an easy to follow program which would offer intensive daily instruction for struggling readers using research based practices.
We wanted the SIL/LIS to be useful for the classroom teacher/RTI intervention teacher or summer school teacher so that they would be able to advance their students into becoming successful readers.
